As we say in our profile, we’re a small family run business in Wales. We appreciate many people won’t even know why we’re called Gower, so here’s why.
The business Gower Tea is based in a small village in Wales on the Gower Peninsula, Wales’ first area of outstanding natural beauty. The village is called Mumbles, it used to be a small fishing village and had Oyster beds which sustained the livelihood of many a villager during the Victorian era.
The village became popular when a horse drawn carriage railway was established along the seashore to Mumbles, the first of it’s kind in the World. As a result a tourist industry was established in Mumbles
Many people ask where in Gower is Gower Tea grown, we of course smile and give an answer, the same as Italian coffee isn’t grown in Italy, Gower Tea isn’t grown on the Gower Peninsula.
The village as small as it is boasts two companies, ourselves Gower Tea and another Welsh Brew. We adopted the name Gower Tea because of it’s location and now there are many products emanating from the Gower. We Have Gin, Ice Cream, Brewery, Salt Marsh Lamb, Brownies etc etc all with the prefix Gower. The Gower has become a small industry of Artisans, showing off the best of it’s talents for searching out and making great quality products.
This is a very small insight of why Gower Tea in Wales is so named, we live here and are proud of our heritage and it’s surroundings, it’s diversity and fellowship among quality product making Artisans.
